Listed as one of the Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls, the Shiraito Falls has been protected as a special natural treasure of Japan. True to its name, the Shiraito Falls, which literally means "white thread falls", displays hundreds of silky water flows of all sizes rushing down from a curved cliff with a height of 20 meters and a width of 150 meters, just like threads of silk. Since the water gushing out of the abrupt cliff is also known as melted snow water that runs down from Mt. Fuji, the Shiraito Falls has been added to the World Heritage List as part of the Mt. Fuji Cultural Site. The maintenance work of the waterfall basin, which has been ongoing since last year, will be completed by the end of December. Once again, the famous waterfalls of the country will be available for viewing from up close.
