Visit, Catch and Eat! [Experience with Oyster Culturing Rafts from OHSHIMA Island]

This is a popular experience program, [Experience with Culturing Rafts], in which aquaculture industry actively working out on OHSHIMA Island is actually seen and touched. Well-reputed OHSIMA oyster season will come in fall through winter. Please visit culturing rafts on board local fisher’s boat and enjoy oyster’s growth process, harvest and sampling. Skipper, full of hospitality, creates a pleasurable experience for visitors by not only explaining the cultivation but also by various ways such as fishing experience, feeding black-tailed gull and so on.

Open Year-Round:
※ The experience with oyster culturing rafts is substituted to that of WAKAME sea vegetable after March.
Fare: 3,000 yen for an adult/ elementary school child
※ Up anchor with 3 people or more

大島で盛んに行われている養殖業を、実際に見て・触れることが出来る人気の体験プログラム「養殖筏体験」。秋~冬にかけては、味の良さで評判の大島の牡蠣のシーズンを迎えます。地元の漁師さんの船に乗って養殖筏へ行き、牡蠣の成長過程や収穫、試食などをお楽しみ下さい。サービス精神旺盛な船長さんが養殖の説明だけでなく、釣り体験やウミネコの餌付けなど様々な方法でお客様を楽しませてくれます。
