The JR Tadami Line is one of the best unexplored routes in Japan and has many scenic spots. All of the viewpoints are easy to reach by car, and you can take pictures of the scenery and the Tadami Line at the same time. This time we will introduce two places!
A JR line connecting Aizuwakamatsu Station in Fukushima Prefecture and Koide Station in Niigata Prefecture. There are 36 stations in total, and the total length is about 135km. The entire line opened in 1971. After the heavy rain disaster in 2011, substitute buses were operated in some sections, but the entire line was reopened in October 2022.
There is a space where you can park your car along Route 252 (there are likely to be more than 5 cars). Within a minute's walk from there, you can see National Route 252 and Tadami River No. 4 Bridge from Mizunuma Bridge.

This is also along Route 252. From the parking lot square, you can see the Tadami Line up close. Taishi Village, which can be seen in the back, is said to be the "Switzerland of Aizu" because of its idyllic scenery. You can take luxurious photos packed with both Taishi Village and Tadami Line♪

Since the number of trains on the Tadami Line is quite small, I referred to the timetable of the station near the viewpoint. If you drive by car, we also recommend visiting the nearby hot springs on a day trip in your spare time!
It takes about 2 hours by car (using general roads) from Kyukamura Urabandai to Tadami Line View Point.
Thank you for visiting Kyukamura Urabandai blog.
