The pleasure boat "Umineko Maru" is essential for sightseeing in Miyako.
We also recommend it as one of the tourist spots in the area.
I went on board the ship on my day off the other day, so I'll report on it!

Pleasure boat

The "Miyako Jodogahama Pleasure Boat" originally operated at Jodogahama, but its operation ended in January 2021.
After that, many citizens and tourism operator expressed the opinion that a pleasure boat is necessary as a symbol of Jodogahama tourism.

...In July 2022, a new boat was built as the "Miyako Umineko Maru".
The hull is made of "Jodogahama Iiro:Eternal Green"., and can be used by people in wheelchairs (it is equipped with a lift).

There are two departure and arrival points for pleasure boats: Dezaki Pier and Jodogahama Pier.
This time we boarded from Dezaki Pier.
The boarding ticket office is located inside Michi-no-Eki Miyako (Seatopia Naado).

The pleasure boat departing from Dezaki Pier will first go directly to Jodogahama Pier (it takes about 7 minutes).
Afterwards, depart from Jodogahama Pier and return to Dezaki Pier while visiting the highlights (about 30 minutes).

You can purchase "Umineko Bread'' (¥200 each) on board the ship, and feed bread to black‐tailed gulls.

On the way back from Jodogahama Pier to Dezaki Pier, there are many spots that you can't usually see from land! Because it faces the Pacific Ocean, it is exposed to rough waves and winds, and the weathered structure is truly impressive.
Candle Rock (3rd photo) is a nationally designated natural monument.

After 30 minutes of sightseeing, we returned to Dezaki Pier.
It's just a 1-hour boat trip, perfect for the upcoming hot weather!
