Kyukamura Iwate Amihari Onsen is located 50 minutes by shuttle bus from Morioka Station.
The Morioka Sansa Odori Festival (盛岡さんさ踊り), one of the five great festivals of Tōhoku, is a dazzling annual celebration held in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture, typically from August 1 to 4.
A 500-meter parade winds through Chūō-dōri Street, featuring thousands of dancers, taiko drummers, flute players, and chorus chants.
On the final night, the event culminates in the World’s Largest Taiko Parade, with over 3,400 drummers beating in unison to reclaim the world record.
The evening closes with the Sansa Ring Dance (wa‑odori)—a communal circle dance inviting spectators to join.
Celebrate safely: Morioka’s summer evenings can soar to 30–38 °C—stay hydrated. Wear a yukata, tabi socks, and approved zōri sandals if you join the parade. Rentals may be available.
Morioka is famed for its three noodles: reimen, jajamen, and wanko soba—perfect for sampling before or after the festivities. Also look for festival souvenirs like Sansa-themed towels, charms, and the mascot doll Sakko‑chan.
Dear guests, please enjoy the Sansa Odori during your stay.
